If you don’t qualify automatically

You may still get one.

Further assessment

Your council can award a badge if you have very considerable difficulty walking, including pain, breathlessness or the time it takes.

Conditions you can’t see

Since 2019 in England, people who face very considerable psychological distress or a risk of serious harm on journeys can qualify, for example with autism, dementia or severe anxiety.

Check your PIP points first

If you can only walk 20 to 50 metres reliably, you should score 8 points for moving around. That gives you a Blue Badge automatically.

Moving around scored too low?

8 points changes everything.

8 points for moving around means the standard mobility rate and a Blue Badge. 12 points means the enhanced rate and Motability.
