How Attendance Allowance is decided.
There are no points. It depends on the help you need during the day, at night, or both.

| Lower | Help or supervision during the day or at night | £76.70 | £306.80 |
| Higher | Help or supervision during the day and at night, or terminally ill | £114.60 | £458.40 |

What counts as help.
Help you need, not help you get
It’s about what you reasonably need. You can qualify even if you live alone and manage without help.
Personal care, not housework
Washing, dressing, toilet needs, eating and medication count. Cooking, cleaning and shopping on their own don’t.
Prompting counts
Being encouraged or reminded to wash, eat or take medication, because of memory or mental health, counts as attention.
Night decides the higher rate
Help twice or more a night, or for about 20 minutes or more, can meet the night condition.
